How to create a Self - care Jar for kids 

Making a self care jar with your child is an important step in teaching your child, the importance of self care and why it is important to pause, stop the noise around and be with oneself.

Self care activities can and should be simple and easy.

It also helps in teaching our children ways to self regulate and easily take care of their own mental health with small practices done consistently.

This can also be an excellent family bonding time and allows parents to know more about our children (especially teens).

Most of these activities, we may be doing in our day to day life, but it’s important to view those activities from the self care point of view.

Some of the examples can be:

* Go for a walk in the nature

* Listen to your favourite music 

* 10 deep belly breaths

* Watching one episode of your favourite series 

* Read a book

* Cuddle your pet

* Cook a nice meal for the family 

* Journal your thoughts 

* Looking after plants and gardening 

* Dance crazy to your favourite song 

* Trying new hobbies 

* Regulated screen time

* Loving massages 

* Ordering favourite food and eating with the family

* No screens time zone - for entire family 

* Playing board games 

* Colouring 

* Take a hot shower
